Ethos

Carroll Consulting is one operator with a short list of stubborn beliefs. They are the reason the work looks the way it does, and the fastest way to tell whether we would work well together.

I

Strategy, then execution

A plan nobody runs is a daydream, and a flurry of activity with no plan is just noise with a deadline. I start with the smallest strategy that actually decides things, then spend the real time on execution, the part that moves numbers.

II

Numbers over noise

Most metrics exist to make someone feel good. A few actually predict whether the thing works. I find those, optimize them, and skip the dashboard theater. If a number cannot change a decision, it is not worth reporting.

III

Build it to run without me

The job is not to make myself indispensable, it is to make myself unnecessary. Operations and software should keep working when I am not in the room: the wrong thing made hard, the right thing made automatic. That is the difference between a consultant and a dependency.

IV

Honest over hype

What is live is called live; what is early is called early. No invented metrics, no borrowed credibility, no decks promising what the product cannot do yet. The work carries the pitch, which is also why I would rather show you something running than talk about it.

If that resonates, the channel is open. If it does not, we would both have figured it out eventually; this just saves the meetings.

Not taking on new clients right now, focused on the work in front of me. The best way to connect is LinkedIn, or a warm introduction from someone I already work with.
